UNFPA reaffirms commitment to continue working with Ethiopia in humanitarian sector

Addis Ababa, October 3, 2023 (FBC) – State Ministers of Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, Alemitu Umod and Ayelech Eshete held a courtesy meeting with UNFPA delegates led by her Excellency Shoko Arakaki.

During the meeting, UNFPA affirmed commitment to continue working with government of Ethiopia and other partners in alleviating the humanitarian situation that is especially affecting women and girls in the country.

The delegation has also recognizied the strong partnership between UNFPA and the Ministry of women and social Affairs.

During the meeting, the two discussed on women and children, family and youth development issues and the achievements obtained in this regard and explored ways to further collaboration.

The State Ministers expressed appreciation for the efforts made by UNFPA, highlighting agency’s role addressing multiple needs to mitigate social issues including sexual and GBV.

The UNFPA delegates, on their part, reaffirmed UNOPS’ commitment to working closely with the Ministry on this and other initiatives.
