UNICEF pledges continued support to rehabilitation efforts in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, March 18, 2022 (FBC) – United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) affirmed commitment to continued financial and technical assistance to Ethiopia in support of rehabilitation efforts among conflict and drought affected communities.

Child Protection Advisor at UNICEF Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office, Andrew Brooks discussed with Minister of Women and Social Affairs, Ergoge Tesfaye (PhD) on ways of strengthening cooperation between Ethiopia and the Agency.

Ergoge briefed the UNICEF Advisor on the activities Ethiopia has been undertaking to rehabilitate people displaced and affected by the conflict and drought situation in various parts of the country.

Andrew Brooks, for his part, stressed need to strong collaboration between UNICEF and Ethiopia to address challenges caused by manmade and natural hazards.

He further reaffirmed UNICEF’s continued support to Ethiopia in reinstating the displaced and supporting affected communities through distribution of financial and in kind items including children nutritional foods and other necessary supplies.
