US Asst Sec meets with Science and Higher Education officials

Addis Ababa, January 27, 2020 (FBC) -US Assistant Secretary for African Affairs Tibor Nagy met with officials of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MoSHE).

The two sides explored ways of cooperation in education in the meeting and attended by ambassador of the United States to Ethiopia Michael Raynor.

They also discussed on the reforms undertaken and further steps need to be carried out based on the education and training roadmap, according to MoSHE.

Moreover, the discussion focused on cooperation in capacity building, networking among universities in the two countries, peace and job creation.

Tibor Nagy assured the Ethiopian officials the US Government’s continued support to the efforts of Ethiopian universities to become vibrant and set up networks between themselves.

Ambassador Michael Raynor for his part said the United States will continue the support it has been offering to the Ethiopia’s higher education sector.

Representatives of different universities from the US and Presidents of Addis Ababa, Jima, Haremaya, Gondar, Kotebe Metropolitan, and Bahir Dar universities from the Ethiopian side attended the meeting.
