Victory of Adwa changes the course of human history in many aspects: historian

Addis Ababa March 1, 2023 (FBC) – Historian, Assistant Professor Adem kamil says that the battle of Adwa has changed the course of human history in many aspects in unleashing worldwide struggle for equality, justice and freedom.

The historian in his latest interview with Fana Broadcasting Corporate said that the victory of Adwa opened a new chapter for all black people who were under the yoke of colonial oppression.

He said the victory changed the mindset of Africans by bringing them together from all walks of life as farmers, pastoralists, women and rural people, workers and artists participated at the battle where a decisive triumph was scored against the colonial forces.

Assistant Prof. Adem added that the victory of Adwa helped ensure Ethiopia’s independence, making the country the only African country never to be colonized.

He added that Adwa Victory turned Ethiopia a symbol of freedom for black people globally.

The historian stated that the victory of Adwa shows Ethiopia’s capability in realizing a united free Africa as the country helped nations of the continent in their struggle for freedom.

“As a result of the victory of Adwa many African nations chose the colors of their national flags based on Ethiopia’s flag’, Adem has said.

“Adwa is a huge historical treasure; it is a milestone in changing the course of history, it is our pride, not only for Ethiopians but also for all freedom seekers’, he stated.

Adem kamil also called on the youth to look back to the history of Ethiopia, the victory of Adwa, its implication as it marks the peace, freedom and unification of Ethiopian people.
