War affected students who flunked university entrance exams allowed to retake assessment

Addis Ababa, April 18, 2022 (FBC) – Ministry of Education has permitted students who failed to score university entrance pass marks after taking 12 grade school leaving exams amidst war have been allowed to retake the exams this year with regular students.

The university entrance pass marks were become point of controversy after many students who sit for exams amidst war in Amhara Region appeared to score lower points.

Following low results witnessed in war affected areas of Amhara, the regional Education Bureau had requested a clarification from the Ministry of Education regarding university entrance exam results and pass marks.

After a long process of evaluating consequences, the Ministry of Education today announced decision that allows to students who flunked the entrance exam due war induced psychological pressures to retake the 12 grade school leaving exams with regular students as per this year schedule.
