Addis Ababa city donates 110 water pumps to Somali region

Addis Ababa, November 26, 2022 (FBC) – Addis Ababa city administration has donated 110 water pumps to Somali region on Saturday at “YeLemat Trufat” program promotion event in the region.

Minister of Irrigation and Lowlands, Aisha Mohamed, Mayor of Addis Ababa City, Adanech Abiebie, and Somali Region chief, Mustafe Omer attended the “YeLemat Trufat” initiative promotion event.

During the event, Mayor Adanech Abiebie has delivered a congratulatory message to the region for overcoming the drought and realizing the “YeLemat Trufat” campaign.

She said that Ethiopia should build resilient economy and get rid of poverty to maintain sovereignty and freedom which was protected through generations with sacrifices of blood and sweat.

The Mayor also stated that if Somali region’s natural resources and untapped resource can be properly utilized, it has the potential to feed the whole of Ethiopia.

Adanech added that the region has contributed so much to other areas of the country with provision of camel milk – a medicinal product.

She assured that as Addis Ababa is the city of all Ethiopians, all the necessary support will be provided so that it becomes a market destination for the products of the farmers and pastoralists of the region.

According to the Mayor’s Office, Addis Ababa city administration has handed over 110 water pumps to strengthen the region’s “YeLemat Trufat” program.
