Amb Meles presents letters of credence

Addis Ababa, January 10, 2020 (FBC) – Malawian President Professor Peter Mutharika expressed his interest to scale up the strategic partnership between Ethiopia and Malawi.

The president said this while accepting the letters of credence of Ethiopia’s ambassador to Malawi (with residence in Nairobi) Meles Alem yesterday.

The Ethiopian Airlines flying seven times a week to Malawi is an asset in strengthening relations in trade and tourism between the two countries, the President added.

Recalling his experience as a professor of law in Addis Ababa University, the president said he is close to Ethiopia and its leaders.

Ambassador Meles reiterated the two countries should strengthen their usual cooperation in various international multi- party platforms to further bolster relations.

Ambassador Meles underscored that Ethiopia and Malawi should apply existing agreements and scale up bilateral diplomatic relations, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
