Command Post Head says National Defence Force on standy for second filling of GERD

Addis Ababa, July 4, 2021 (FBC) – Head of the Metekel Zone Command Post of the National Defense Force, Let.-Gen Asrat Denero announced that the army is standby for safeguarding the second filling of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).

While discussing with troops of the National Defense Force on standby mission in the dam site and surroundings on the ongoing military serivices, the Head stated that the army is keeping vigilant on and protecting security of the project around the clock.

He explained that the peace and security in Metekel Zone is significantly improving and livelihoods of locals have returned to normalcy.

IDPs who fled their homes due to security matters have been reinstated in some selected places, he added, reaffirming the commitment of the army for successful second filling of the GERD and peace and security of the region as well.
