Dialogue key to lasting unity- GCS

Addis Ababa, January 7, 2022 (FBC) – The Government Communication Service (GCS) said the key to lasting unity is dialogue.

“The government strongly believes that Ethiopia’s problems need to be addressed in a comprehensive dialogical approach,” it said in a statement issued today.

As part of the move, the Ethiopian government pardoned some prisoners for the improvement of the political situation, the statement noted.

The government has granted amnesty to the prisoners to make the national dialogue a success and hoping that they will make a better contribution to the country and to the people, it indicated.

The amnesty included those detained for committing offenses earlier and the ones arrested in connection with the recent war, the statement said.

It added the government is working to address the age old political challenges of the country through inclusive national dialogue by establishing an independent National Dialogue Commission.

It further stressed that the government will do whatever it costs to protect the national unity of the country.

The government has granted amnesty for the following prisoners to maintain multinational unity and peace in the country.
