Diplomatic community briefed on process of investigation on alleged human rights abuses

Addis Ababa, June 1, 2022 (FBC) – The Office of Ministerial Taskforce is briefing members of the diplomatic community and representatives of international organizations residing in Addis Ababa on the process of the investigation on alleged human rights abuses in the context of the conflict in the North.

The Justice Minister, Gediwon Temotiwos (PhD) told the diplomats and representatives of the international organizations that the investigation is underway in a free and independent approach.

Head of the Office of the Taskforce, Tadesse Kassa (PhD), has tabled a report showing the activities undertaken so far and the step the investigation process reached in advance.

The taskforce is established in a bid to hold those involved in the alleged humanitarian violations accountable and ensure justice based on the recommendations listed on the report of the joint investigation conducted by Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) and United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
