Ethiopia reports 176 new COVID-19 cases

Addis Ababa, June 15, 2020 (FBC) –Ethiopia has confirmed 176 new COVID 19 cases and two deaths from the virus over the last twenty four hours. COVID 19 laboratories in the country have tested 5,636 samples over the last day, Ministry of Health stated.

The new report has increased the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 3,521.

Of the new confirmed cases, 116 are male and 60 are female with the youngest being 5 years old and the oldest 90 years, it added.

Except one foreign national, all cases are Ethiopians, out of them 98 are from Addis Ababa, 33 from Amhara, 31 from Tigray, 7 from Somali, and 3 from Oromia, 2 from Afar Regional States and the other 1 from Dire Dawa City Administration.

Three COVID 19 deaths have also been reported during the last twenty four hours, out of which the one has been confirmed to die from the virus with post mortem examinations while the other two were receiving treatment.

The ministry also stated that 75 people have recovered from the virus taking the total number of recoveries in the country to 620.

There are now a total of 2,839 active cases in Ethiopia, with 29 of them in a severe condition. The total number of tests conducted so far stands at 186,985.
