Ethiopia, South Sudan agree to cement bilateral ties

Addis Ababa, November 1, 2023 (FBC) – The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen, discussed with President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit on bilateral issues of mutual concern.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister delivered the message of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) to the President of South Sudan.

The two exchanged views on how to take the ties between Ethiopia and South Sudan on bilateral, multilateral and regional issues to the highest level.

The two leaders agree to enhance mutual cooperation in linking Ethiopia and South Sudan through infrastructure development.

Demeke and Salva Kiir also explored ways how to foster the people to people relations between their respective countries.

Finally, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen and the South Sudanese Foreign Minister James Pitta Morgan briefed the media via a joint press conference.
