Ethiopian delegation attends 27th World Investment Conference

Addis Ababa, December 12, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) is taking part in the 27th World Investment Conference being held in New Delhi, India, under the theme of “Empowering Investors: Investment Promotion Agencies Pioneering Future Growth”.

Ethiopian delegation headed by EIC’s Deputy Commussioner Mr. Temesegen Tilahun is attending the conference representing Ethiopia, networking with counterpart IPAs, and pitching Ethiopia’s investment potential to investors and development partners.

The first day of the conference focused on insightful capacity-building masterclasses on selected topics: climate FDI strategies for IPAs, aftercare tips for IPAs, unlocking institutional investment, and preparing winning investor pitches.

On the sidelines of the Conference, the Ethiopian Embassy in New Delhi, in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), organized an Investment Forum at the FICCI Federation House. The Forum was held in the presence of Mr. Temesgen Tilahun, Ambassador of Ethiopia to India Demeke Atnafu, and Dr. Gunveena Chadha, Assistant Secretary General and Coordinator International Division of FICCI and Mr. Yash Pal Sachar, Senior Member-FICCI Africa Council and Vice President-Corporate Affairs, Ashok Leyland Group.

On the occasion, Mr. Temesgen provided a comprehensive overview of the diverse investment opportunities in Ethiopia, by emphasizing the priority sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, mining, ICT and tourism as well as real estate , logistics, transport, education and energy as emerging areas.

The Deputy Commissioner also extended a warm invitation to the audience, urging them to consider investing in Ethiopia. He assured potential investors that the Ethiopian Investment Commission would facilitate all necessary steps, emphasizing the government’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for foreign investments.

For his part, Dr. Gunveena Chadha expressed FICCI’s readiness to work in collaboration with the Embassy to further bolster the existing economic ties between the two countries.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Yash Pal expressed enthusiasm for investment opportunities in Ethiopia, encouraging audience to explore and engage in the country’s growing economic landscape.
