Ethiopian delegation partakes in 2023 COPs-BRS, MEAs

Addis Ababa, May 2, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopian delegation led by Frenesh Mekuria, Deputy Director General of the Ethiopian Environmental Protection Authority (EEPA) is participating in the Meetings of the Conferences of the Parties to the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm conventions COPs, BRS and MEAs which were kicked off in Geneva, Switzerland from 1-12 May 2023.

The 2023 meetings of the Conferences of the Parties to the three conventions will be held under the theme “Accelerating action: Targets for the sound management of chemicals and waste”.

The meetings will be organized back-to-back and will include joint sessions on joint issues.

It is to be recall that Pre-meetings of regional groups and the bureaux held on Sunday, 30 April 2023.

Ethiopia among the African States is participating in this year’s meeting through its authority of Environmental Protection.

Meetings of the Conferences of the Parties to the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm conventions is a Multilateral environmental agreements sharing platform with a common goal of protecting human health and the environment from hazardous chemicals and wastes.
