Ethiopian students in India vow to counter fake news

Addis Ababa, March 4, 2021 (FBC) -Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to India, Ambassador Tizita Mulugeta, has called on Ethiopian students at Marwadi University to counter misinformation campaigns.

The ambassador made the call during a visit she paid to the university located in Rajkot, Gujarat yesterday.

She met and held talks with the vice-chancellor of the university, the faculty dean, as well as Ethiopian students pursuing their education in the campus.

The discussion with Ethiopian students focused on the current political, social, and economic issues of the country as well as the challenges students face in the teaching-learning process.

Regarding the fake news campaign against Ethiopia, she urged Ethiopian students to counter the false dissemination of information that intended to inflame public opinion against the government of Ethiopia.

The students on their part reaffirmed to discharge their duties and responsibilities to counter the fake news campaign against their country.

The meeting has also served as a forum to identify major hurdles to ensure the smooth conduct of their studies and look for ways to address and sort out academic and related issues raised by students.
