French parliament members briefed on current situation in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, December 8, 2021 (FBC) – Ethiopian Ambassador to France, Spain, Portugal, Holy See and Monaco, Henok Tefera Shawl briefed the French Assembly lower House of Parliament and members of the Ethiopia Friendship Group on current situation in Ethiopia.

Ambassador Henok explained to the team of the French parliament members led by Virginie Duby-Muller and members of the Ethiopia Friendship Group on the genesis of the ongoing conflict in Ethiopia and the measures being taken by the Government of Ethiopia to maintain law and order in the country.

On the occasion, the Ambassador stated that the TPLF started the conflict with the aim of destroying the Ethiopian State, and is responsible for gross human rights violations in Amhara and Afar regions.

The Government led by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, who is commanding the Ethiopian joint forces, is defeating the TPLF forces and ensuring the preservation of the Ethiopian State, Ambassador Henok underlined.

Prime Minister Abiy is committed to the deepening of the democratization process in the country and the economic reform launched in 2018, he added.
