House approves the appointment of chairperson of NEBE
Addis Ababa, December 19, 2023 (FBC) – The FDRE House of Peoples’ Representatives (HoPR) today approved the appointment of Ms. Melatework Hailu as the Chairperson of the National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) during its 9th regular session.
It is indicated that Ms. Melatework Hailu has been working at NEBE to date.
HoPR approved Ms. Melatework as the chairwoman of the National Election Board of Ethiopia by a majority vote with one abstention.
Ms. Melatework appeared before the parliament and took an oath to carry out the responsibilities entrusted to her with honesty, diligence and efficiency.
It is to be remembered that Ms. Birtukan Mideksa, who was the chairperson of the National Election Board of Ethiopia, resigned from her position voluntary in June 2023.
