In with the new, Ethiopia rings in its new year

Addis Ababa, September 11, 2022 (FBC) – Today, Ethiopia welcomed its very own new year, 2015, with various events, clean slate and positivity, and 21 cannons were fired at 6:00 AM to mark the occasion.

In his best wishes and New Year messages, FDRE Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, recalled that the previous (2014 E.C) was filled with mixed experiences to Ethiopians.

“When we welcome the new year with enthusiasm, it is with the confidence that our hope will be fulfilled like the daisies and morning glory flowers, that we will see the fruition of our plans, that we can keep the nemeses that compromise our peace at bay, that the fog and darkness will be brushed aside from us and light will shine on us,” said the Premier on his inspirational new year message.

“Now, there is an unexploited and invaluable treasure waiting for us that we can benefit from”, he addressed.

“Celebrating a new year only makes sense if we can effectively manage our time, but those who let time to manipulate them will never have a new year.

“Let us make the new year meaningful. It is pointless to call a year ‘new’ or ‘old’ if we let it consume us. Let us create a telling new year, and make the best out of it”, he added.

He concluded his best wishes by stating, “We shall be dedicated with new pursuit of wisdom and make the year meaningful.”
