Kasama City of Japan hosts Abebe Bikila memorial half marathon run

Addis Ababa, December 22, 2020 (FBC) – Kasama City of Japan has today hosted the second Abebe Bikila Memorial Half Marathon Run today.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopian to Japan, Kassa Teklebirhan and the Marathon Runner Abebe Mekonnen have launched the half marathon run.

More than 650 athletes have participated in the half marathon run which is held in commemoration of the barefooted legendary athlete of Ethiopia, Abebe Bikila.

Mayors of Cities of Kasama and Ibaraki and members of the diplomatic community from Ethiopian Embassy in Tokyo have also taken part in the half marathon, according to Ethiopian Athletics Federation.

An event that promotes the Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony has also been organized in the city, it is indicated.
