Political parties should place human rights at heart of their agenda towards upcoming elections:  EHRC

Addis Ababa, February 18, 2021 (FBC) – Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) urged political parties to make human rights issues their core agenda during the upcoming elections.

The commission is consulting with various stakeholders under the theme “human rights during elections”

Commissioner of the EHRC, Dr. Danier Bekele on the occasion recommended that political parties should place human rights at the heart of their agenda during the upcoming national elections.

The commission has raised three major concerns over the upcoming elections, according to EBC; full rights of citizens to participate in election, issues of people with special needs during the election process and participation of the displaced in upcoming elections.
