Some 14 firms to undertake fuel conveyance to Tigray region from Djibouti port: Authority

Addis Ababa, December 29, 2022 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Energy Authority (EEA) has announced that it has granted 14 petroleum conveyance companies to transport and distribute fuel in conflict-ridden areas of northern Ethiopia directly from the Djibouti port.

The Authority’s Director of Fuel Supply, Logistics and Monitoring, Fekadu Shumet, told Fana Broadcasting Corporate that the 14 fuel distributors, which are granted the license to carry out conveyance of fuel directly from the Djibouti port, used to operate in northern Ethiopia before the conflict broke out.

He stated that the federal government made the decision to swiftly deliver to the residents in the areas where fuel supply was cut off due to the conflict.

Among the 43 fuel distributors that are operating in Ethiopia, 14 of them have been granted the license to convey fuel directly from the Djibouti port and distribute in conflict-torn areas of the northern part of the country, Feqadu confirmed.

EEA’s Public Relations and Communication Director, Bekele Kuma, for his part, explained that the fuel conveyance firms that received the green light are Yetebaberut Beherawi Petroleum S.C, NOC, Ola Energy Ethiopia, TotalEnergies Ethiopia, TAF Oil Ethiopia, Nile Petroleum, Dalol Oil SC, Gomeju Oil Ethiopia, Habesha Petroleum PLC, Alefai, Delta Petroleum Ethiopia, Baro oil Ethiopia, Sky Petroleum Ethiopia, and Kumbi Oil.
