Some 155 civil society organizations registered to observe upcoming election
Addis Ababa, March 24, 2021 (FBC) – Some 155 civil society organizations have bee registered to observe upcoming 6th national elections of Ethiopia.
Agency for Civil Society Organizations urged registered organizations to effectively discharge their vested responsibilities during elections.
Agency stated that the registered civil organizations will be participating in creation of consensus among parties, voters’ education and observation of voting process.
Foreign organizations are not allowed to involve in observations and voters education unless they get special invitation from National Electoral Board of Ethiopia, the agency elaborated.
The agency further stated that it will take corrective actions against civil society organizations which might breach rules set.
Agency further said it is responsible to conduct follow up and monitoring whether the organizations are working based on rules and regulations as per their principal objectives.
