Some 383 Ethiopian migrants on overburdened boats rescued off Djibouti

Addis Ababa, February 12, 2023 (FBC) – Over the course of a week, 383 Ethiopian migrants who were at risk of capsizing on overburdened boats during their journey from Djibouti to Yemen were rescued.

According to the Ethiopian Embassy in Djibouti, the authorities have apprehended those responsible for the smuggling of migrants. The Embassy has extended gratitude to members of maritime security services for saving lives of the Ethiopian migrants.

The Embassy is working with partners including IOM for the safe return of Ethiopian migrants who are undergoing difficult conditions in the country.
