UK reaffirms commitment to support Ethiopia’s dev’t endeavors

Addis Ababa, December 13, 2023 (FBC) – Mr. Ahmed Shide, Ethiopia’s Minister of Finance, held a productive discussion with Mr. Nick Dyer, Second Permanent Undersecretary of the UK’s Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office.

During the meeting, Minister Ahmed highlighted the long-standing partnership of the two countries and expressed his gratitude for the UK government’s ongoing development support through bilateral as well as multilateral channels.

He also expressed his appreciation for the UK’s decision to be a member of the Horn of Africa Initiative.

The minister gave brief updates on the current macroeconomic status and humanitarian situation in his country and the ongoing engagement with the IMF and World Bank.

He further emphasized boosting the development cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, Mr. Nick affirmed the UK government’s commitment to support the development efforts of Ethiopia.

According to him, Ethiopia is still UK’s major priority country in the UK’s global development support, per the Ministry of Finance.
