About 135,487MT humanitarian supply sent to Tigray region: DRMC

Addis Ababa January 5, 2023 (FBC) – About 135,487 metric tons of food, non-food items and 879 thousand 980 liters of fuel were sent to Tigray, DRMC disclosed.

Disaster Risk Management Commission (DRMC) disclosed that So far, 135 thousand 487 metric tons of food, non-food items and more than 1.1 billion Birr cash have been dipatched to Tigray region.

Debebe Zewde, Public Relations and Communication Director at DRMC, told Fana Broadcasting Corporate that 135 thousand 487 metric tons of food and non-food items have been sent to Tigray region so far.

Accordingly, the commission announced that more than 1.1 billion Birr cash was sent to the Tigray region to be used for operations.

The commission stated that the humanitarian supply follows the peace agreement which showcased the government’s continued effort to strengthen supply of humanitarian aid to the Tigray region in cooperation with partners.

DRMC also disclosed, 879 thousand 980 liters of fuel were sent to Tigray region and 3 thousand 389 vehicles were transported to the region. Debebe disclosed that 26 humanitarian aid flights were made until January 3, 2023.

It is indicated that the number of partners distributing humanitarian aid in the region has reached 119.
