Activities underway to make correctional facilities centers of excellence and productivity

Addis Ababa, December 15, 2022 (FBC) – Commissioner General of the Ethiopian Federal Prison Commission, Damena Darota stated that activities are well underway to make correctional facilities centers of excellence and productivity.

Following the wave of reforms sweeping over the nation, a wide range of measures have been taken to provide correctional centers with sustainable access to education, training and recreational facilities.

Measures taken to smarten the correctional facilities have enabled prisoners to recompense their communities with what they are gaining from the favorable conditions, the Commissioner General elaborated.

The Commission in collaboration with partners is carrying out awareness creation works that are contribution to behavioral changes among the community towards correctional centers, Damena added.

The Commission, in partnership with Fana Broadcasting Corporation (FBC), is addressing the community with television programs portraying the transformed images of the centers, and this in turn is bringing positive developments.
