Addis Ababa says ready to host Irreecha festival this coming Saturday

Addis Ababa, October 1, 2023 (FBC) – Mayor Office of Addis Ababa has declared it is ready to host the Irreecha 2023, a thanksgiving festival among the Oromo people, this coming Saturday.

Senior officials of the Addis Ababa City Administration have visited the progress of the traditional holiday to be celebrated at Hora Finfinnee in the capital.

The Mayor Office confirmed that preparation have been well finalized ahead of the celebration to take place in Addis Ababa at Hora Finfinnee on 7 October 2023 in participation of hundreds of thousands of people from across the nation.

The Oromo people describe the Irreecha festival as a “Thanksgiving holiday” whereby they offer praise to God for ending the rainy season and ushering them to the New Year.
