DPM & FM Demeke confers with UNEP Director-General

Addis Ababa, September 15, 2023 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minster and Foreign Minister of Ethiopia today conferred with Inger Anderson, Director General of UNEP in Havana, Cuba.

DPM & FM Demeke who is attending the Group of 77 and China Summit in Cuba briefed Inger about the major climate and development issues in Ethiopia including the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).

Demeke said Ethiopia plans to diversify its energy sources in its bid to advance regional integration through connectivity.

Inger said UNEP is committed to support the climate resilient development projects in Ethiopia.

She also congratulated Deputy Prime minister Demeke on the successful completion of the fourth filling of GERD.
