End Polio for Good, Art exhibition kicks off tomorrow
Addis Ababa February 22, 2023 (FBC) – The Rotary International District 9212 Holds an Art Exhibition tomorrow to Fundraise for Polio Eradication.
In a press Press Release sent to Fana broadcasting Corporate Rotary International District 9212, which governs Rotary clubs in Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan and Eritrea, sets to hold its largest fundraising event entitled the Imagine Rotary Art Exhibition with the aim of supporting the End Polio for Good campaign in Addis Ababa.
The charity exhibition according to the release will be held from the 23 rd February -4th March at the Alliance Ethio-Francaise and will showcase more than 70 paintings of renowned artists from Ethiopia, for auction and fundraising for Rotary’s Polio eradication campaign.
The release added that part of the display will be the top art piece entitled “Imagine Ones Dream” which is painted by Darren Jones, the brother of the Rotary International President Jennifer Jones.
The painting was been gifted to the District to support in the fundraising efforts of Rotary International’s polio eradication final campaign, the release stated.
The release indicated that the exhibition, which has been initiated by Rotary District 9212 Governor Azeb Asrat, will also raise awareness about Rotary’s efforts to end polio for good by mobilizing all relevant stakeholders in the final push to eradicate the disease once and for all.
Accordingly, all proceeds from the sales will go to the Rotary Foundation Polio Fund.
The release indicates that the District has also launched its virtual exhibition whereby all paintings will be available online for bidding to all audiences ahead of the main exhibition.
It added that as part of the campaign, the District will award special recognitions to purchases starting from bronze purchase (USD 250), silver purchase (USD 500), gold purchase (USD 1000) and Platinum Purchase (USD 1500) in contributions to this global cause.
It further explained that Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 35 years spending over 2.1 billion USD in projects.
As a founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, Rotary reduced polio cases by 99.9% since its first project to vaccinate children in the Philippines in 1979. Today, polio remains endemic only in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Recent reports of polio appearing in the US and UK is troubling. Hence, Rotary is pooling all efforts to eradicate this disease once and for all, the press release mentioned.
