Customs Commission signs MoU with Russian counterpart

Addis Ababa, July 28, 2023 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Customs Commission has signed an agreement with the Russian Customs Administration to streamline the price transfer system on the sidelines of the ongoing Russia-Africa Summit in St. Petersburg.

In an exclusive interview with Fana Broadcasting Corporate, Chief Commissioner of the Ethiopia Customs Commission, Debele Kabeta, the agreement aims to facilitate the transfer of goods.

He stated that this agreement will allow the government to obtain information on the actual price of goods coming from Russia to Ethiopia and to collect taxes from imported goods properly.

In addition, the commissioner explained that the agreement will help prevent illegal activities related to revenue.

Commissioner Debele also revealed that in a discussion with the Russian Customs Administration, they also agreed to work together to prevent drug trafficking and cross-border smuggling.
