Kenya interested to partner with Ethiopia in tourism sector

Addis Ababa, October 6, 2020 (FBC) – Ethiopian Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Kenya, Meles Alem stated that Kenya has an interest to partner with Ethiopia in tourism sector.

The Ambassador held talks with Kenyan Minister of Tourism and Wild Life Ministry, Nejib Balala through virtual technology on ways of establishing cooperation between Ethiopia and Kenya on the area of the tourism industry.

According to Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Meles Alem, the Kenyan Tourism and Wildlife Minister expressed interest, on behalf of his country, to set up cooperation with Ethiopia in the sector.

Describing Ethiopia and Kenya as homes of numerous tourist destinations, Meles stressed efforts are much needed to stimulate the tourism sector for it has been impacted by the pandemic.

He recommended that the tourism sector Minister, airlines and tour operators of the two country shall work together in order to stimulate and transform the sector.

The Ambassador also briefed the Kenyan Minister on the precautionary measures Ethiopia has put in place to protect visitors from the virus as part of reopening of the industry as of the next month.
