PM Abiy Ahmed congratulates Ethiopians on historic achievement of 566 mln trees in a day

Addis Ababa, July 28, 2023 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed extended gratitude to Ethiopians who heeded his call  to plant 500 million saplings in 12 hours on Monday and to break the nation’s own record set four years ago.

Referring to citizens’ active participation in the mass tree planting, the Premier said, “You have made a ‘Green History’,” adding, “You have written a ‘Green History’”, congratulating compatriots on the historic achievement.

“You have decided not to pass on a hostile climate and degraded land to the coming generation. You had flocked to the mountains, fields and to the ridges before the sun rose, and planted 566 million trees, and broke the record, Abiy stated.

Seedlings have been planted in all regions, zones and woredas of the country, the Prime Minister indicated.
