UN acclaims Ethiopia’s unwavering support in fostering the activities of ECA

Addis Ababa, November 23, 2023 (FBC) – Minister of State for Political and Economic Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mesganu Arga, held a discussion with the Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr. Chandramouli Ramanathan, at his office today.

The dialogue, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, centered on the prestigious African Union Hall Renovation Project, an integral part of the United Nations’ Capital Investment Plan for Economic Commission for Africa.

Appreciating the UN’s astute initiative to invest in the preservation of the African Hall – the birth place of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) and a symbol of Africa’s triumph over the shackles of colonialism and historical injustices, reiterated his government’s unwavering commitment to continue lending support to this noble endeavor, MFA Ethiopia stated.

It is noted that as an integral part of the Africa Hall Renovation Project, Ethiopia voluntarily allocated a land measuring 3,000 square meters in the year 2019. Ambassador Mesganu, with an air of assurance, reiterated Ethiopia’s fervent dedication to continuing the collaboration and backing as the host country of the Commission.

The Assistant Secretary General, on his part, commended the government of Ethiopia for its unwavering support in fostering the activities of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa as a host nation including the project to modernize the iconic African Hall.
