Wolaita zone residents stage rally in support of PM Abiy

Addis Ababa, February 8, 2021 (FBC) – Residents of Wolaita zone, SNNP regional state, have held a rally in support of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and his reform measures.

Participants of the rally, who were drawn from all woredas of the zone and Sodo town, hailed the gains made from the reform measures initiated by the Prime Minister

The aim of the rally is to salute the Prime Minister for his strong leadership role, extend gratitude for the successes he attained in development, good governance and diplomacy since he came to power.

In the rally staged to show their solidarity to the Prime Minister, the demonstrators denounced those internal and external forces who strive to deter the construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).

The demonstrators were also heard chanting “we’ll ensure the sustainability of the ongoing reforms by foiling confusing agendas,” and “our reform journey will continue to strengthen under the leadership of the Prime Minister.”

Dr Endrias Geta, Wolaita Zone Administrator, on the occasion called on the residents to stand by the side of the government for the sustainability of the reform and so as to strengthen development activities.

They also denounced those who endeavour to seize power forcefully and derail the reform.

Similar rallies were also conducted in Jinka as well as in Sawla town, Gofa zone.
