DPM & FM Demeke Meets with Sierra Leonian’s President

Addis Ababa, July 26, 2023 (FBC) – The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen, earlier today met with Sierra Leonian President, Julius Maada Wonie Bio, on the margins of “The African Human Capital Heads of State Summit” in Tanzania.

During the meeting the two sides discussed bilateral, continental and multilateral issues of mutual interest.

The parties, among other things also discussed respective achievements.

DPM and FM Demeke briefed President Bio some of the most significant flagship initiatives of the Ethiopian Government including Green Legacy, YeLemat Tirufat (“Bounty of the Basket”), massive wheat production and the recently launched “Education for Generations” scheme.

Demeke told the Head of State of Ethiopia’s keen interest to further bolster cooperation in bilateral, continental and multilateral venues and congratulated the latter on the election of his country as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.

The President on his part shared Sierra Leone’s experience and accomplishments in the areas of food security, agriculture and health in relation to human capital development.
