Ethiopia overcomes its own problem, continues journey to prosperity: Russian Ambassador
Addis Ababa, December 23, 2021 (FBC) – The twentieth Anniversary of Russia’s Ruling Party “United Russia” and its cooperation with the ruling Prosperity Party of Ethiopia has been observed at Pushkin Center for Science and Culture in the capital Addis Ababa.
Ambassador of Russia to Ethiopia, Evgeny Trekhin, Head of the Office of the ruling Prosperity Party of Ethiopia, Adem Farah and several invited guests have attended the event.
Adem Farah has extended congratulatory message to members and leaders of the Russian ruling party United Russia” up on its twentieth anniversary. He also said the party to party relationship will contribute to strengthen the longstanding bilateral relations and cooperation between Ethiopia and Russia.
On the occasion, Ambassador of Russia to Ethiopia, Evgeny Terekhin exclusively told FBC that Ethiopia has managed to overcome its own problem through self-sustained manner, and continued its journey to prosperity. “We can say that it has been a decisive year in the long history of Ethiopian state,” he added.
I hope that Ethiopia will steadily go forth in finalizing such a bridge of history and recover from the damage she has suffered due to the unfortunate conflict.
Russia is ready to contribute its part in enabling Ethiopia achieve its goals based on plans and wishes of the government, he said.
Regarding the recent resolution endorses by the UN Human Rights Council, the Ambassador stated that Russia strongly condemns such meddling of some powers in internal affairs of sovereign nations including Ethiopia.
“We are strictly following the principle of non-interference and respect to national sovereign of other countries and peoples,” he noted.
“Unfortunately, certain countries are trying in different occasions to use the cover of international organizations such as the Security Council and the Human Right Council or some others respected international organizations to push forward their own hidden political agenda, and this is unacceptable for Russia,” he underlined.
“Russia is sharply objecting such an attempt and we are always on the side of the countries including Ethiopia which are being attacked in this way,” he added.
In related story, the Ambassador noted that ruling parties of Ethiopia and Russia have so far agreed to hold joint consultations and exchange information on topical issues on the situations in the two countries, on bilateral and multilateral relations, exchange experience in the area of party building, organizational work, youth policy, economy development and other spheres of mutual interest as per the MoU they signed so far.
The “United Russia” is confident in the exceptional importance and value of the dialogue with the Prosperity Party that allows it to discuss the main issues on the international agenda, conduct experience exchange on the party building and parliamentary activity, the Ambassador said.
“We are sure that the Russian-Ethiopian cooperation between the ruling parties will be substantial and proved the strengthening of mutual understanding and trust between our countries and people” he added.
