Ethiopia requests WIPO to further strengthen its support

Addis Ababa, July 16, 2023 (FBC) – The Director General of Ethiopian Intellectual Property Authority (EIPA), Woldu Yemmesel, met with the leadership of WIPO and requested to further strengthen its support to Ethiopia.

This happened during his meeting with WIPO Director General, Mr. Daren Tang and with other senior officials of the organization on the sideline of the 64th assembly of the WIPO held this week in Geneva, Switzerland.

During the meeting, Mr. Woldu appreciated WIPO for the technical, financial, capacity building, and other IP related supports given to Ethiopia so far.

He briefed the leadership on Intellectual Property reforms as well as the status of the intellectual property related pilot projects that have been implemented in Ethiopia with the support from WIPO and also exchanged views on future areas of cooperation between the two organizations, as per Ethiopian Permanent Mission in Geneva.
