Ethiopian delegation visits New Cairo city

Addis Ababa, July 27, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopian delegation consisting of various cities and institutions across the country visited the New Cairo city project which is being built in Egypt.

During the visit, a discussion was held with the Cairo city administration regarding the modernization of cities, construction of state-of-the-art urban and infrastructure, and remediation of heavily congested urban sites.

The members of the stated that Ethiopia and Egypt share close relations in terms of culture, history and others, so the experience they gained can be implemented in their respective city.

The visit is said to have taken place following the visit of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) to Egypt on July 13, 2023.

Hence, federal government senior officials, mayors of Addis Ababa, Adama, Bahir Dar and Hawassa have participated in the latest visit by the Ethiopian delegation.

New Cairo is a satellite city in the Eastern Area of Cairo, Egypt, administered by the New Urban Communities Authority. The city was established in the year 2000 by merging three ‘new’ towns, originally on an area of about 67,000 acres which had grown to 85,000 acres by 2016.
