Germany keen on enhancing bilateral relations with Ethiopia

Addis Ababa February 25, 2023 (FBC) – State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia Ambassador Mesganu Arega has met with Stephen Auer, Germany Ambassador to Ethiopia.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two sides discussed on bilateral and multilateral matters of mutual concern.

During the conversation, Ambassador Mesganu Arga appreciated Germany’s long-standing and stronger partnership with Ethiopia.

He reaffirmed Ethiopian government’s commitment to implementing the Pretoria Peace Agreement.

He also spoke about Ethiopian government’s commitment to ensuring accountability while emphasizing that the Commission of Human Rights Experts on Ethiopia (ICHREE) is a politically driven commission.

He encouraged Germany to support Ethiopia’s sovereignty by terminating the mandate of the Commission.

Ambassador Stephen Auer, for his part, congratulated Ambassador Mesganu Arga on his appointment as State Minister for Foreign Affairs and stated that Germany looks forward to re-engage and develop its bilateral partnership.
