Japan provides $8.1mln for reconstruction of conflict-damaged schools 

Addis Ababa, June 16, 2023 (FBC) – The Government of Japan has provided support of 8.1 million USD for reconstruction of conflict damaged schools and sanitation program to be implemented in affected educational institutions.

Ambassador of Japan to Ethiopia, ITO Takako and UNICEF Representative in Ethiopia, Dr. Aboubacar Kampo have signed the agreement.

The assistance is aimed to support the efforts being carried out by the government to rebuild and restore schools damaged by the conflict in northern parts of the country, it is stated on the signing ceremony.

Some 12,000 students are expected to benefit from the reconsruction works, and additional 47,000 students from the sanitation and hygienic program.
