Mekelle and Raya Universities return to regular operations

Addis Ababa, August 15, 2023 (FBC) – Mekelle and Raya Universities, educational institutions in war affected northern part of Ethiopia, are returning to their regular learning teaching activity.

Mekelle University has readmitted around 2,000 students and Raya University reenrolled its 760 students who are currently attending their higher education in the institutions.

Academic Vice Presidents of Mekele and Raya universities, Abdulkadir Kedir (PhD) and Nega Afera (PhD) stated that the institutions have restarted the teaching learning operation based on prior preparations.

Solomon Abraha, Chief Executive Officer of Administration and Infrastructure Development at the Ministry of Education, for his part, stated that the peace agreement has paved the way for resumption of the learning and teaching activities in war affected areas of northern Ethiopia.
