Ministry distributes 850 additional Ambulances to regions

Addis Ababa, May 14, 2020 (FBC) – Ministry of Health stated that 850 Ambulances have been distributed to Regions and City Administrations today.

A Resource Management Director at Ministry of Health, Eskindir Lakew said the ministry has procured 3,014 Ambulances worth 3.5 Million Birr during the current fiscal year aimed to enhance the logistic service in the sector.

The ambulances will be appropriated to Health Care Institutions at regional, zonal and city administration levels and universities in a bid to ensure speedy emergency response, patient transfer, and adequate delivery of maternal cases in the health system, Eskindir noted.

The distribution of the ambulances which has come at a time when the country is battling with coronavirus pandemic is also vital to speed up the national COVID 19 emergency response at regional level, Eskindir added.

The Ministry of Health has distributed 2,116 ambulances to regions so far, it is indicated.
