Peace is irreplaceable treasure, a single eye for the world: Patriarch

Addis Ababa, November 3, 2022 (FBC) – His Holiness Abune Mathias I, Sixth Patriarch and Catholicos of Ethiopia, Archbishop of Axum and Ichege of the See of Saint Taklehaimanot, extended a congratulatory message regarding the agreement reached between the Federal Government and TPLF on Wednesday.

In his message, the Patriarch said that “Ethiopia belongs to all of us. We should solve our differences through dialogue and implement the reconciliation.”

He stated that peace is the irreplaceable treasure of mankind and a single eye for this world.

Only with peace, a leader can maintain his throne; a bishop can remain the throne, citizens can prosper in their country, a farmer can cultivate in his land, His Holiness remarked.

According to Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahdo Television, the Patriarch said that when an idea prevails, a weapon becomes a farming tool.

He emphasized that “since Ethiopia belongs to the Ethiopians, we should protect it, resolve our disagreements through dialogue, put our words into reality, and implement reconciliation.”

His Holiness also thanked those who worked hard for the agreement and those who accepted the call.
