PM Abiy congratulated the incoming President of the World Bank Group Ajay Banga

Addis Ababa June 22, 2023, (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed congratulated the incoming President of the World Bank Group, Ajay Banga.

Ethiopia encourages the World Bank Group to enhance its mission to respond to new challenges —climate change, pandemics and conflict issues while reaffirming the centrality of the twin goals of poverty reduction and shared prosperity, said PM Abiy after his meeting with incoming WBG chief.

The Premier also held a discussion with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on the margins of the ongoing Summit for a New Global Financing Pact, being held in Paris, France.

During his meeting with the IMF chief, the Prime Minister appreciated the Fund’s continued engagement and support, including its scaled up efforts in responding to climate challenge.

Recall that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed is participating on the Summit for a New Global Financing Pact, being held in Paris, France, from June 22 to 23, 2023.

During the course of the Summit, he participated on the roundtable entitled “Evolving the model of multilateral development Banks to address the 21st century challenges”.
