Government urges diaspora to use legal money transfer system

Addis Ababa, November 22, 2021 (FBC) – The Government of Ethiopia urged the diaspora community to use the legal money transfer system while sending remittances to their families

The call was made by Selamawit Kassa, State Minister of the Government Communications Service who briefed reporters this morning.

Selamawit reiterated the government’s commitment to facilitate a conducive environment that will further enable the diaspora community to stick to the legal money transfer system.

On the other hand, she appreciated participation of Ethiopians and people of Ethiopian origin in the Diaspora in the No More movement led demonstrations held in 27 cities across the world.

The demonstrations have boldly reflected the realities on the ground in Ethiopia and helped Ethiopians and people of Ethiopian origin to renew their commitment to the democratically elected government of the country.

The State Minister also noted that the government is working hard to build a resilient economy that will better cope with challenges brought by the ongoing war.

Regarding the AGOA sanction, Selamawit said the government is exploring alternative markets in several countries and beefing up competence of Industrial parks so that their products will effectively penetrate more destinations.
